About two .thousand, children and adults attended -tho annual,: Petono schools' combined picnic at Day's Bay on Saturday, aud although tho weather was dull and cloudy at times a most onjoyablo day was spent. FOOTBALL BAZAAR. .. On Saturday night tho. Town Hall was packed for jthe'final night of tho Hutt Footballs Club's bazaar. A programme given by the '.Wellington ' -Pipe.' Band, 1 consisting:! of dances, songs, etc., was much appreciated. It is understood that there will bo a profit of ..£IOO on .the bazaar.. The art union in conjunction with it will be drawn, early in, January.

Florence Thompson, who is severing her, connection with the school; by :Mr. Yeats,headmaster, on behalf of the scholars of tho present' took the ;.form of .'a: very crocodile-skin purso bag .'and two silver hat-pins.
