Mason, president of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, ; has received a letter from Mr. J. D. Avery, secretary of the Now . Zealand Rugby Union, informing Mm that it is proposed to hold a confetence between. the. New South "Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand Unions at Sydney on December 28; Tho lotteT-adds that, at a Special mooting of the New Zealand delegates last yeur, it was decided that when, such ri. conference took place, the union should be .'represented by three delegates, one from each Island, and one from the Management Committee.. It was the desire,, of the committee .that Mr. Mason should go ; as one of the l'eprcfientafives. ■■■:,. '•■'The Council of Delegates of the New. Zeiv . land Union, at tho meeting hold in March last, adopted some, suggestions for the .amendment of, the laws of the, parae, and these were forwarded to the English Union. That, body subsequently referred the amendments to the International Board, but nothing further.-had so far been heard from the English authorities. It is very probable that tho conference will: be an extremely important one, and; it may lead to the formation of an . Australasian Union. It certainly should bring about a good deal more reciprocity in football matters than at present exists, i ' . Mr. Mason has not decided' whether he can accept tho invitation to act as the South island, delegates.
