Tho Right Hon. D. Lloyd-Georgo was recently president of tho Welsh Baptist Union. A writer in a religious periodical-considers that thero is something peculiarly appropriate in this latest honour of his election to tho highest plfico among this Welsh Baptists, when it is remembered that his first and earliest experiences of controversy and . warfare date back to the early days of his boyhood, when as the only Baptist boy in the village school' he had to stand up for the faith of his fathers He: has been: heard to confess that whenever ho failed to silence tho jeers of his school companions .by sheer force of argument, he never hesitated to resort to other and. more forcible methods—so ardent a champion was ho of the Baptist faith. Speaking in a London church recently, ho said that though a huciblu member of tho King's Ministry, ho rejoiced even more in the honour done.to.him by"the ministers of a higher Cabinet and a greater lung.
. Dean Russell' Wakefield, by making a qualified defence of Sunday:■' golf, has drawn from Rev. C. Silvester-Home.'a dignified rebuke says the "Christian .World." Mr.: Home is not only an ardent golfer, but'the secretary ot tho i'ree Church Ministers' Golfing Society. He condemns Sunday golf on. the ground that it extends Sunday labour, and robs caddies and club stewards of their one day's rest in seven. It is, he says, the selfish ricli who ■want to play on Sunday,,and they want:paid labour ■to wait on' them. People,; Mr. Homo adds, can amuso themselves out of church timo on a Sunday without necessitating the'eniploy.nicnt of others..
