Yesterday afternoon, m the society's rooms, Willis Street, the fortnightly meeting of the Society for ( tho Protection of rt'omon and Ehiidrea was hold, $lrs A E Atkinson presiding Those present were Mesdames Kirkcaldio, Gordon, Ponsonby, Evans, and Mrs Brigadier Glovor Several frosh cases wore reported, including one of tho alleged ill-treat-ment of ft child, and the secretary was instructed to make investigations The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks 10s. each from Mr. Winder, and Mr. W H. Moorehouse, 5s each from Mia J H Biqhardsdn, and Mrs J D Ejtchio, and 2s 6d frqjii Mrs Thornton,'also stationery from Messrs Whitcombe andiTombs
