LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED. . The poll of ratepayers of tho Wadestown district, formerly tho South. Ward of : the Onslow borough, was held yesterday, on the proposal of tho City Council to raise the sum of .£33,000 to construct a tramway to Wadestown. Tho polling booths were at the Town Hall and at Mr. Janes's shop, Wadestown. A total of. 35i names appeared on the roll for. the special rating area, and of these 20i voted, 187 casting'their vote for the proposal and 17, against. Of the 115 votes polled at Wadestown only nine were against the loan, .and eight of the 12 voters at the Town Hall were in opposition. The proposal was thus carried by a majority of 170 votes. The result of the poll was announced by the. Returning Officer (Mr. Ames) at 7.10, seven minutes after the closing of the poll.
