The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's steamer Elian Vanniu, which was Jost on the Mersey bar while voyaging from tho Isle of Man to Liverpool, has completely broken in two amidships, ' There is a 15ft. hole in her, suggesting a collision. • [This is the first suggestion of a collision, as the previous cablegrams stated that the Elian Vannin was swamped by an enormous sea and sank instantly, many of those on board being sleeping in their berths at the time.
