■•■'- ■■.-•» — '"'. THEATRE ROYAL. ■~ This week's programmo of moving pictures at tho Theatro Royal maintained its popularity at last night's display.; The impressive story ontitled "Gambling Fever" was followed with close attention, ami the bright, frosh humour of "Sweet and Twenty" camo as a pleasant relief. Thorc, are many other capital pictures on , tho 'programme, which will be repeated to-night. ■ : ./■■„(! ■'. ; ..'■.' • ROYAL'PICTURES. Opposition in the "show line" appears to have little or no effect on the attendances at His Majesty's Theatre, the last performanco of this week's programmo being well attended. Tho now list of pictures for to-night's per'formanco will ineludo the kinamatographic ovent of tho year, entitled "Nero, or the Fate of-Rome," which should add another success to tho pictorial scries which havo been- received with unanimous favour by the royal picture patrons. It is played by artists of renown, costumed with minute detail, mounted on a lavish scale, coupled with striking scenic and lightning effects. Other .films for special mention are: "In Old Kentucky" (n tale of the American War), "The 12 o'clock Express," "A Childless Home," and "Tho Lost Heir." Comedies have not beer, forgotten and such pictures as "Ho Tried on Handcuffs," "Black Hands and Feet," "Charming./ Children," and ."A. Good Action Rewarded" should meet the tastes of the most exacting. \ '"/■ STAR PICTURES..', ~, : ■The Star Pictures will resume operations on Thursday evening, The programme w-ill be headed by "Boy Scouts to the Rescue." The reception which this filni met'with when last shown surpassed anything yet screened at St. Thomas's Hall. Tho programme is one of exceptional merit, and the', entertainment 'is of a first-class nature. THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. : In our amusement columns to-day a notice appears announcing tho return visit of. tho Scarlet Troubadours' . Comedy Costume Company, which, appears at. tho Opera House on Iridny next for a-season of eight uights only. ■As. in the caso of .Mr.. Brnnscombe's Westminster Gloo Party, part-singing is made a distinctive feature, but in place of serious musio; the programmo will,'for tho most, part, contain humorous numbers: given in character and-costume. Tho Troubadours number eight gentlemen and two ladies, amongst them being two lato members-of the famous London ~- Meistcr Glee , Singers. Tho titlo adopted by, these vocalists (which .refers to tho ■ costume? in which they first, introduce themselves) is somowhnt misleading, and might perhaps lead patrons ,to- supposo that their performances wero of .vaudeville type, whereas such is not tho.case, Tho class of entertainment which thoy'give, .although novel to this -parte* tho world,'is popular and fnshionablo in Eugland, and consists of musical numbers, both solo and part-singing, given.in costume-, in many eases grouped together to constitute snprt scenes, into which is introduced clever witticisms and smart patter.
