A BISHOP'S VIEWS ON DANCING.
.WOULD LEAD. OFF HIMSELF. ■ : : _ (By Tcieirraph-Prcas AMoclatlonl: r " ..-.'. Christchurch, December 7 .^In the course of his address at the annual meeting of the Girls' Friendly Societv this .afternoon, .Om ■ church (Dr. Julius) spoke at some length onthe, wisdom of promoting social gatherings for' their friends. -Girls who joined the society he said,; all. expected to bo.imarried. Jlfl did not know whether there was a tendency in the society to regard young men with horror, but it seemed to him : it was just possible-that tho society might keep girls so very much'aloof men that they would have to leave the society if they wanted' to get married. It was perfectly natural that girls should want their young men, and perfectly, proper, and the very best thing the, society could do would be to help girls to find the -right .young men. He would not like to think* that in order to find their young men girls must say good-bye ; to the society, which might be supposed to have a down on young men. He would like to ask whethef.it would not be possible for the society to promote social gatherings to which girls might bring their young men. If ho was head of the Girls' Friendly Socioty ho would take the Art Gallery and hav-e a big dance once a year, and lead off himself. He would not bo a bit afraid of secularising the society. Personally, he believed- that' dancing was one of the things which should be Christianised. .
