Councillor , Parr remarked ; that the .council , had vigorously protested * ■ against, the. schetno; to confiscate its sinking,-' .. funds, and he thought very rightly so. Ho • understood, that the reason for the; proposal was that, it'was desired ,to assist; the -finances : of-some: of the small road boards, but- ho did • not seo why this should, bo' dono out of the •pockets of the city, ratepayers.
