NATIVES OBJECT TO ITS SALE. Accompanied by Mr. T, Pal'ata, M.P.; foi ' : southern Maori -district,.'and - Mr. Toynton. ' Public Trustee, the Hon. A. T. Ngata visited Tuahiwi, .Karapoii' on Saturday, to attend a, ' - meeting'of .the. Natives interested, in tho Grey. mouth reserve.. Bented at ,the meeting beneficiaries : whose in- "■ • torests amounted, to sixth-sevenths of 'v'the total area of the reserve.'- The chief spokesmen were: Messrs. W. H.Uru (whoso wife -holds-in-her own right between one-sixth and. one-fifth of the reserve, and who was hcrsolf ■ • present), E. M, Tarawa Merhana; and Hoani Taenui. . - .■. ~ ■ _Mr. Ngata explained to them, tho proposals of tho Groymouth lessees, who.'have' petitioned parliament, and of the Greymouth Borouirh Council, bb contained in. recently - passed by the. council, -. n 0 pointed out the advantages to be: gained by realising (ho re- *■ lts , "Iw. iirnl having the' money invested in other lands, or in different securities.
