With the view of avoiding a tariff war with Canada, the chairman of the United • States House of Representatives Coinmittoo on interstate and foreign commerce, who recently conferred with President Taft, will shortly introduce a Bill to encourage and promote commerce between the Unitod States and the Dominion'of Canada. ■ .. ■ Hβ recommonds the postponing of the application to Canadian goods of the :Unitod States maximum tariff until 1911, also the admitting of Canadian wood-pulp and printing paper free, on condition that no restriction is imposed on' their export in the Dominion. '* London, November 29. The New York correspondent' of "Tho Times" says that the United States proposals indicate, a desire to conciliate Canada. The question is occupying, the Berions attention of the United States Tariff Board, which will possibly" visit Canada.'- : ' ~ /
