That this Court of Convocation repeats its recommendation to 1 tho Seriate that tho standard of the matriculation examination be raised, and makes the following further ' recommendations:—(a) - That. tho standard of knowledge required shouldbe such as. might.'reasonably bo expected from a candidate after'a satisfactory four years' course at a •secondary school,..terminating..'in the highest class. such subjects in the examination'should be compulsory, as fairly, represent a , sound general education with; a view to onabling tho . student 'thereafter,' to", concentrate his attention upon a homogoncpus group of related subjects, (c) 'That?mathematics; including, arithmetic, algebra, and tho-.-elements, of. geometry, be made compulsory for all candidate.? for matriculation,,who' intend- to proceed to the B.A. or B.Scr degree, (il) That Latin be compulsory "for all, candidates who intend tpjirococd to tho B.A. or LL.B. degree. .' ;. : tfnivcrsity,' Reform.—That this Court of Convocation expresses its sympathy, with .the movement., for '■ university reform prom'otod: by the University Reform.
