Mountain King.—Drivlnir at the intermediate levol in tho Mountain Kinu mine has been advanced 3ft.. The country is -BtUL a-nice'-firm olacs of andeeitc, with numerous mineral ocame striking into the face. The reef ■ is still split up into; strir.gers, but with a' tendency towards coming together again, and there is a good flow of water coming i from the face. Tho
reef in tho stopes-is etill a nice body, of ore, and continues to show strong colours and dabs of gold when taken : down. : ...' : Tokatea.-According to- the manager of the Tokatea mice, Coromandol, the Brst. stbpe south of the rise on tho road level has been-carried to the paint where the leader was • intersected. The leader is •Hμ. thick,,nnd- at last breaking down showed coarse colours of gold. The second stopo south of the rise has been carried along Bft. ; The lender is , 2in. in width, composed of nice-looking quartz. Tangiaro.-The bottom level .drive north on the olden Store reef of ■ tho Tangiaro mine has-been advanced a, further distance of 6ft. iho reef is about 18in. in thickness, showing good minerals and fair ; prospects ,of gold in the-dish... Driving west on the Crown loader is now in'full swing, and'the drive is in 16ft. through an. excellent class of andesito country. The leader is . slightly disturbed in the face by a, cross-lead coming in. The smithv low level drifts north on the new reef is now in a. total distance " of. 266 ft. from tho ■ crosscut. Ihe reef in the (ace is improving in appearance, and is' better defined. Now Sylvia.-The rise (No. i>'iin. the • New Sylvia mino is now up 23ft. 'The reef is 6ft. to 7lt. wide, and is producing ore of good quality, some assays being of high value. The I riso. is. being., taken up. 12ft. in length,, and a,, good supply of ore is, therofore, being accumulated from this source. The work of driving north on the reef is being continued, and tho face is now over 30ft. north of No. 1 rise, with tho reef fully Bft. in width and improving, in quality as' tho face is extended. A band of black ore on tho hangingwall side is. particularly-good, and tho-whole width of thq reof of good general value. ' ' Tairua. Monarch.—At tho low level in tho Tairua Monarch mine driving north on tho reef has been extended a total distance of 120 ft. The reet is 3ft. wide, composed of • Mnttylooking stone, and the country encasing it is of a good description.- Operations at No. 1-level :have. been;stopped for tho-present; Tho" men ore now engaged driving -a', surface" level through tho outcrop of No. 3 reef , The reef at this point is of a large size, a distance of 6ft. having been driven through the reef formation, with Quartz still showing ,in the face. At No. 2 level a s'.ido was met with, and'tho reef was cut off.. Tho drive has been continued on through the slide, nnd firm country; is now showing in tho face,- but bo far no quartz ■ has been met with. .'Handsworth United.—The', drive south at tho low level in the .Handsworth/TJiuted mine is being advanced through very, favourable coun-: try, tho smaUload being carried along with No.' 2. The, amalgamated , area-. having been recommended .at; last Warden's Court, the_ several claims will beput under, tho one license, and as soon, as; tho 'dilFore::£ levels', arc repaired tho manager will/get' a'-.complete underground survey, made and plan prepared so that a comprehensive working scheme of operations can. be'.undertaken.
