DAILY NOTES FROM WANGANUI.
(Dy Tclcgraph-Bpeclal Correspondent.) ' . • Wanganui, November 19. A conference of School Committees held hero last night was attended by representatives from all parts of the Wanganui Education District. Very little business was done, discussion going on till a vory lato hour over a motion condemning the board's method of appointing toachors. The grievance of tho committees is rather a condemnation of tho Act than of tho board. Eventually tho motion was carried, and tho conference adjourned; leaving all other business unfinished. Tho death has occurred after a long and painful illness of Mr. J. K. Manning, formerly well known in Wellington as a mombor of tho toaohing profession. Hβ came to Wanganui twenty-five years ago, as one of tho staff of the Collegiato School, afterwards being known as a music teacher. Ho was a skilled musician, and rendered many services to musical circles, ibeing organist of Christ Church for sovoral years, and conductor of various musical societies.
