ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
« BURNT TO DEATH. (Uy Telccrapb.-I'rcßs, A«Boclatlo=.l Taihape, November 18. This morning, at 4 o'clock, a slab wharo of three rooins, with a toi-toi roof, was burnt to the ground at Turangarere. Tho wharo was occupied by a man named Jago and his wife, and' three other men—Charles Connell, JohnGiogan, and David Davit, a half-caste, also lived in tho placo. Mrs. Jago and Connell nero burnt to death. Tho others escaped. Jago was badly burnt and cut, and is in a sonous condition. Grogan'e hair was singed. It took only fivo jninutes after tho discovery of tho fire lo reduce tho building to ashes. An inquest mil be held this evening. Auckland, November 18. A young girl, daughter of Mr. W. Cotter, butcher, To Ituiti, uas burned to death j esterday. She lit soit.o gorso and her clothes caught ilro. Tho accident was unobserved until her Clothing had been nearly all burned off. Then a young man, Albert Knoebone, tore off the remainder. Ho suffered se\cro burns to his hands. Medical attendance was procured, but tho child died two hours later. SUDDEN DEATH. i Auckland, November 18. Mrs. Johanna M. Wright, an elderly woman residing m Newmarket, after having had a cup of tea. with her daughter this moraine, went out to the wash-house,.and suddenly I ;collapsed. She called out "Florence" to her daughter, but when the latter came the woman .was dead. It is supposed, that heart failure was the cauEe of death. An inquest is to bo held. MISSING. A woman named Mrs. M'Donald, who boarded in Rhodes Street, has been missing sinoe Saturday last. The police description is that of a woman of 43 years of ago, wearing, when last scon, a blue print dress (white stripes), black hat, and fur boa. THE EAIWARBA MYSTERY. ( Tho hospital authorities report that the young man, Jack Roberts, who \*as found on tho Kaiwarra Hills with a bullet wound in his head on Tuesday last, is in a very low condition. Up to the present tho patient has been unable to furnish an explanation of the,circumstances whioh led up to his accident.
