Tho . first evening sports meeting • of the season' was ' held at tho Basin Eeserve last evening by the. Civil. Service Amateur Sports Clnb'. There was a fair attendance of the public, and some good racing was witnessed.' The officials in control of the meeting were:— Judges, Messrs. S. F. Whitcombe, W. A. Woodger, and M. Burnetto; starter, Mr. T. W. Leslie; timekeeper, Mr. H. Barr; handicapper, Mr. J. W. Hoonan; hon. secretary, Mr. L. A. Te'utenberg. . : The following aro the results of tho various events competed for:— : 75 Yards.—A. H. Overend (2Jyds.), 1'; A. 0. Jones (9yds.), .2; H. H. Dawson (3Jyd6.), 3. Time, 7 3-ssec. A closo finish. Overend won by about half a yard. ~.-.-. '•■ , :. One" Mile.—FJ Wilton (scr.).l; E. S. Forno (65yds.), 2; F. Hodson (45yds.), «. Time-, 4min. 47sec. Wilton ran with good judgment, and won-rather easily. 440 Yards.-J. F. (11yds.). 1; D Casey (18yds.), 2; L. Tenfenberg (13v<ls.), 3 Time, 53 l-ssec. A good race. T. H.'M'Lcan made tho paco very, hot for tho.first 300 yds when ho died away, and Wilson, coming fast "at the. finish, won by several yards.. ..-'
