MURDER IN BUENOS AYRES.

A youthful Anarchist, apparently a Russian, threw, a bomb in Callao Street, Buenos Ayres, killing Settor l?alcon,' Prefect of Police, - and liis secretary, wlib iyere driving past. The murderer, who was. arrested, unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide. Martial law has been proclaimed in Buenos Ayres, owing to the assassination' and the presence of Anarchists. MAY-DAY RIOTS. ■ . --The assassination is no doubt the outcomo of tho May-Day riots in Bueiios Ayres, . and tho bitterness entertained ■ against tho polite and their prefect. Cabled-advices in May last stated! ; ■ . .
"In Buenos Ayres on May Day there was a sharp collision: betwfcen Labour dehionstrators and: the police, and it is reported that 12 persons were killed and about 100 injured. According to official statements,' a band of Anarohists , began the alTriiy :by firing at the Police, .of whom they wounded', five. 'A 'number of fights occurred, 'between' stokers and noil-strikers, in which ono of tho rioters was killed and several ivoro injured, ihe work of, tho port was paralysed and: the S f. nu r3 im up tlio, tram-cars at some pointsi ihe strikers ■ say tlicy will only return to work when tho Prefect of Polico. resigns." Subsequently -the strike /collapsed, and two bomb explosions occurred, one'of them injur-' ing 20 persons, including a doctor; a sub-corn-fliissioiier of 'police, atid three policemen, Iho Bomb, which caused these injuries, was concealed m a basket of vegetables which had been placed on the platform of a tram-car. Uno ot the pafesengors heard the sound of ticking proceeding from among the vegetables-ahd yarned the, police, who removed the basket, ihe infernal machine then exploded. 1
