Owing to the high wind prevailing, tho attempt to operate on aeroplane from tho show gi bunds on Saturday, afternoon was postponed i i At a meeting some time since tho General Committee ( of tho Manaivatu A and p Association discussed the quesben of subsidising a veterinary scholarship at a Melbourne College, and the teeretaiy was instructed to got intormabon on the matter The registrar of the Otago University writes on the subject as follows —"The couiiul is prepared to erect the i I necessary buildings and j establish a school of I veterinary science as soon as the estimated cost, I i&JOOO, has been voted by Parliament The conn- ' I cil, with the aid of special proiessors and the staff of the Medical School, is prepared to ofter I a full courso oi veterinary instruction, and suggests that any scholarships u> be established should be connected with the New Zealand Veterinary School, rather than with an insti tution beyond the Tasman faeas " I Mr J L Barnicoat, manager of the local branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has resumed duty after a holiday in vanouu parts of tho Dominion Mr Uarmcoat was greatly bone fited in health by his trip The Palmerston branch of tho Women's Christian lamperaoca Union has decided to send a delegate to tho nest convention to be held in Invercargill ■ ; '
