An increased number of buyers were in attendance, representing England; America, and. the Continent, and'local buyerfl \were also present. ■ Competition was very 'animated throughout the sale. The wool was of a much better duality than that offered at the corresponding sale of last year, it being, with, a few exceptions, very bright and light in grease Prices showed oven a better improvement than those anticipated by brokors, this being due mainly to the keep competition of the buyers for the American market. As compared with tho • corresponding sale of last year, • prices showed a considerable lncreaso of from 2d to 4d.; per lb. . .

Messrs." Levin and Co., Ltd., report:—The first sale of the season wae hold yesterday at the Town Hall,-when .3000 bales wore offered by the Associated Brokers. ..There waa a large attendance of .buyers, representing: English,' European American and New Zealand operators. The wool ottered showed an increase' OM6GO: bales. on the first n sale oflaet year,: Wα presented a catalogue of 680. bales, and tlie whole catalogue was'a creditable representation of .tho new season's clip. ■ The wobl an ; the • whole was'bright well grown, light in condition, and, many, lines were well got up, showing that some growers are taking more care to market their clips in an attractive condition; but on the other hand we regret to notice: several clips poorly classed and unslurted, with bellies remaining, which missed the American demand arid suffered materially in consequence. Bidding;was oitremely animated, and prices throughout were on a pery high scale, and wo cleared nearly ovory line on our catalogue at flgnres which must please the ven<J°™. we topped the market with two linos of halfbreds at 13Jd.. ana sold many parcels at from lid. to 13d. Aβ compared with the prices realised-last November there was a marked advance all round, reaching as much as-iid. to sd. in the ; best lots suitable for America. l !
