Tracj, of Wellington, easily beat Hurcomb, of Marlborough.un a bosing contest last night Tiacj nas the first to put in an appearance in tho nng, being well received but it was some ■minutes before Hur.comb took his corner. Tho weights were given as Tracy, 9st 121b , and iHurcomb, 9st. 131b. On coming; together, Tracy was tho first to lead, sending in a straight left, but the round v.as tame and uneventful. There was a little more real boxing, in the second round, which wae very even. Trary established a lead on points, which he increased in. the third round. ; The fourth round was more lively, but nothing; of real moment .occurred., Tracy, however, was hooted for swinging Hurcomb to the floor The Wellington man piled up moie points in tie fifth round, bnt Hurcomb was still making a fair showing. , In,the sixth-Tound Tracy went in hard, .and Hurcomb bega.n to hang out signals of distress, going flown twite The first time 'lie uis down for tuo seconds and tho gong i just saved him on the second occasion, In the seventh round Tracy endeavoured to finish tho contest, but 'Hurcomb boxed on gamelv and Tracv was cautioned for throwing, Km comb'ngain taking tho connt close up to nine, when the ijonr sounded Hnrcomb came up Ereatly refreshed for tho eighth, round, and "mixed it" in good (.lyle Trncv bemß aeain hooted for throwing The latter was still making big efforts to effect a finish, bnt Hurcomb was game and still had Tracy on the defensive. The tenth round was the list and hod only bren in progress a rijinute when Tracy, swung a right and then i left stab and Hnrcomb's claim to the big end of the , purse was settled
