Intimation was given yesterday that a soltlerMnt ihad been arnved at in the cass of the Mudgnay Estate Land Csmpany, Ltd, versus the Uuti, River Board The case ivas before Mr. Justice Sim and Messrs I H. E Leighton and J, B. Harcourt (at-essors) on Thursday, October' 21, Mr 80l tori appearing for claimants and Mr. Bunn} for tho River Board. It was stated at tho hcar.ng that in 1903 a Gtrip of land measnnng 4J acres had been cut , off tho property of tho claimant company, cast of the township of Petono.' A stop-bank. had been built along tho land, the use of which had beeu. lost to the company. The stop-bank ' wtLi a continuation of protective works constructed by tho Eiver Bond along the banks of the river to keep the water back in time of flood An offer of JC2SO had been made, without pre Udice, brthe board In respect tn the land taken. ' . The torms of the settlement were that the claimant company should, accept the amount originally offered-j8250-m full satisfaction
