"A man may reach .£IOO in four years, and it may take him ten or tivclve i yeirs loiger to reach X 200." Our Wellington informant considered that tho statement might nave boSn put more strongly. Ho said that iii/ at least ono 'bank tho average man onlv reached .£2OO a year after 10 to 20 years' service. Tho same bank did not treat its country managers on the scale mentioned by the Auckland clerk. Instead of receiving a house allowance, each country manager had to pay rent lortnp residential premises attached i. to tho baiu, even if he did. not use thorn.
