KARORI TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
« — 5 The proposed extension" of tho Karon tramis way was before tho City Council again last evening. The Tramways Comimttce reported that they had further considered tho letter of i tho Karon Council with respect to the proposed extension, the borough having asked whether the city would equip aud'inn this exI .wnsion as under the present system; whether the chargo of Is. per car-mile could bo reduced to 10d._ny<rr tho whole line; and whether tho city would grant the co-ojperation of tho engineers in the preparation of plans, etc. il'ho committee recommended as follows — <1) That the council agrio to include tho extension \a the present agreement botweon the 1 city and,the borough in so far as it concerns the running of tho. rolling stock and the mama tenance of the line t (2) That in view of tho fact that the cost J of. the car-mile M the present Karon line ji is<bufc a small fraction of a penny les.s than '' Vβ, and taking into consideration the fact I! that tho transmission losses mil be greatly f accentuated when the extension is opened far l J tiaffic, no reduction bo mndo in the present [,-, charge of la. pur car-mile I' (3) That tho (|ity Council grant tho co'i- operation of its engineers in tho preparation jj or plans, specifications, etc ,| The recommendations were, agreed to. fl" ■
