A quostion was raised as to the position '.of the association in connection- with,the Davis Cup'contests.- The secretary: (Mr. fil N. Goldie) said .that, at the last annual meeting of the association, it had been-decided: to resign froni, the Australasian Association, after the Davis-Cup'"contest, whether the cup 'was''retained or not. Correspondence, with Australia had 1 ; been, carried on ,with. a view to., putting New"Zealand on a proper footing as far: as the Davis Cup was concerned; The New.Zealand Association had reluctantly, agreed to have onethird of the representation, .take only one-third Of the funds, and have the competition, in'the Dominion once in three years..-The'Victorian Association' had ': approved these,' proposals, but other Australian '"associations ' had decided against them.- 'A reply'stating the-exact. position of affairs-was expected, from Australia by the,: next mail,' a meeting having been ■ held, on October 27. . ' ".' • " s - v 'Mr.T. K. Sidey, M.P. for • Caver6ham, forwarded a copy of the New Zealand Local Time Bill,.and asked the association.'ior ari.expression of: opinion as to the .proposal.. 'He also. Requested that- a' delegate should: be appointed to,, give evidence before .the Select Committee as.' to 'the, advantages, of .the proposal. . -.' ■■' ~ ,The association unanimously resolved, on- the motion fit Mr. J.' C. Peacock:—'That,, in. the ■ opinion' of -this , association, : the. passing of legislation to enable'the hours' of, daylight to be more fully utilised in New Zealand during the,summer mohths'wil be' conducive • to : the better, welfare of the community, and, this association records its appreciation l of, and en-tire-sympathy with,'the provisions of-the Bill, intituled, the New Zealand Local' Time.
