EXPENSES" OFr DEFENCE* DEPARTMENT The Hon G J SMITH (Canterbury) moved that there be laid on tho table of the Coun cil a Totnrn 'giving the names of—(a) All in Btrnctors,in connection with the Defence De partment holding commissioned rank, with particulars of the work done during tho twelve months ended 4ugust 31 last, giving dates upon which thoy were actually engaged in instructional work, and the district or districts where such wortywns done, (b) amount of travelling expenses or .allowances drawn by each such ofheer for bim'selfj and also in respect of any orderly attending him, and (c) tho names of all with particulars of the distnol or districts to which they,were attached and tho branch of th 6( service to which they belong Dr nNDLAY said the ,GoYernment could . not agree to furnish the return.
