WELLINGTON COLLEGE SPORTS.
■ UNFAVOURABLE WEATHER. . The annual athletic sports gathering in connection with Wellington College was held on tho collcgo grounds yesterday. The weather was not vory favourable whon operations commenced at 10 a.m., and several heavy showers fell during tho day and made tho track slow. Of the 13 events on the programme, all were decided with tho exception of some of tho hurdle and jumping items, which will be got -of! next week. Tho boys onterod into.tho busi•ness of the day with enthusiasm, and largo fields turned out for all of tho races. Competition was keen, and somo capital finishes were witnessed, more especially iu the middle distances./. Thoro was a fairly largo attendanco of spectators and tho sports wore controlled by. the following officials:—Judges, Messrs Heine, Gifford, Tomlinson, Smithson, Dixon, Robison, and Williams; track judges, Messrs. • Robison and Alexander; .championship .judges, Messrs. Mathoson and Popo; ' starter, Mr. Brodie; marksmen. Messrs. Ronnor, Castle, and Caradus; timekeepers, Messrs. Monaghan, Martin, and Eudman; judges of walking, Messrs. Rudnian.and Brodie.
