■ An instructive lecture on how to: render first-aid, in an'emergency case' 1 calling for medical was given by Mr; Moore; the 'Missiorier, nt.'tho- Missions to ■'Seamen Institute last -evening! .>. There; was a -largo and interested audience. The Missioner dealt chiefly with- the common -accidents of- daily ■life,-showing, how torcstore- an' apparently suffocated or drowned person, and gave demonstrations showing tho-methods'of-stopping the bleeding of arteries. ' Ho also' gave several useful hints in connection with health mattors. Competitions relatiug to: ambulance work were won by sailors from ships.-in. .port.. Messrs. Proctor arranged an enjoyablb_programme of music, the following .contributing items:—Miss Ewen, Messrs. F. J. Proctor,'Wilkinson,'. Andrews, and C. E. Proctor. Mr. F. J.
