MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Mastcrton Hospital Trustees was held yesterday morning, r Present: Messrs. J. B.,Keith (chairman), C. T C. Jackson, J. C. Ewington, R. i Brown, and H. J. ,o'Leary. The treasurer's statement for " tho month was as follows:—Masterton Hospital: b Beecipts, 18s. 9d.; expenditure, JB2BB 13s. e 3d.; balance at last mooting, JE4W Bs. 3d. In- t fectious Diseases Hospital: Receipts, JC2Q ss.j t expenditure, w£7;' balanco at lost ; meeting, JEOI t 15s. Bd.; .balance at date, Os. Bd. The J matron's report showed that thero were seven- a teen patients' in the hospital at the end of s last month, twenty-three wero admitted during 3 the month, and twenty-five discharged, leaving 3 fifteen at present in the institution. On the 1 matron's application, and in order to. suit the S convenience of country people, the visiting days 1 were altered from Tuesday, Thursday, and 3 Sunday to Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday c in each week. . In response to a request from t the trustees for a reduction in the price of t gas to the hospital, the Borough Council In- f timatos that:tho rate would be reduced to all ] consumers in February next. Tho Masterton t Amateur Theatrical Society wrote stating that c half the proceeds of their' next performance ( would be donated to the hospital. The offer was .accepted with thanks. . - ■ ' ' ' ■ CARTERTON. At the annual meeting of the South Wairarapa Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage-Bird Association, the advisability of inviting tho North. Island'Poultry'Association to fix ; their .headquarters at. Carterton for tho next, year, will bo considered. On Monday evening members of the local "brass band presented Mr. H. Madsen with a i silver-mounted > pipe and tobacco pouch as i tokens of esteem on the eve of his departure ( for, Pahiatua.
