The motion was carried. The engineer was,instructed to 'draft an amending by-law in; reference to the buildiiiß by-laws, having regard to the matter of the frontage and subdivision of land. It appeared from the.discussion that many property-owners "i the: district suffered from.the fact that a 40ft. ;fr,Qntage-.was insisted on'under the present, by-law,- many of .the.owners! having over half an aero and abundant air space, on which they:could not build because the'.frontago was underf4oft. ■ ~ , • ■ :. % The' Mayor.' produced 1 the annual balance-* sheet /duly audited by* the.Audit .Department and- informed the council that' the•"document bore,,; two* tags..' The second tag , had reference to purchase of' land for & catchment area as 'there was a mortgage on ono of the properties.
