YACHTING.
; [By JUinsheet.] Yachtsmen could, not have wished for better days than last Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday a light -riorthrly was blowing, and the following yachts, were out:—Rawene, Janet, Lizzie, and Nancy Stair,' and also a few of the smaller craft. Most of the,. yachts cruised round Seatdun, the" Janet and Lizzio going across to Day's Bay. .Owners of motor boats and steam launches 'seemed to ( be'making the most of Sunday. There was hardly'a 'ripple on the 'water in tho morning, and ■nearly every launch turned-out. The yachts, all got out very • slowly, > as there was very little wind, and the general direction; of their cruise was for Thorndon, the wind being from the cast. At about eleven o'clock a.light southerly, sprang up, and this helped the yachts along considerably, most of them making up the entrance. A nice run home was anticipated, but, in the afternoon, the wind changed round to the ' north;' and began to ; blow steadily.
