The following is a further contribution to! the. series of articles on diving compiled by Mr. H. Sydney B. Kibbands:— Standard Dives: The dives, recognised as standard, are specified ond tabulated in tho grade, and these dives shall alone bo accepted in all competitions. (Note.—Theso rules have no application to displays and contests connected with diving arranged by affiliated clubs, but such ovents must be described, as "diving displays," or "spccial diving contests," ana ; n ? j? 8 j. Tho valuation of tho dives m tho grado is arranged according to degree* of .difficulty, and varies from one to two • Mints—intermediate values'being denoted by decimals. High dives from the 15ft. No divo shall be addrnlto or deducted from the grade; neither shall the grade values, or detail points awarded to any diyobo augmented or decreased, or method of scoring bo modified, except- under' the circumstances as provided for the altera- 1 tion of. the rules of the local A.S.A. • Competition Dives :~ln competition at least nvo different dives must.be .executed by each competitor; the actual number of dives to bo determined by the, conditions of the compete tion. Dives for competition may bo either:—(a) Obligatory; (b) balloted; (c) voluntary. Obligatory dives are those chosen by tho committee previous to the competition, and cluly notified m the programme or advertisements. Balloted dives, aro, those selected by tho committee by; method of ballot within one hour of tho competition, at its commencement shall, the.nature of.these;dives bo divulged by tho barter .to the competitors. Voluntary dives j ar ? i, ose sclccted. by competitors with or without the committee s restriction as to their 1 grado value, and these dives shall bo notified to ! the committee, who shall advise the starter at 1 least, one hour before the commencement of tho I competition.
