Employees of the Hutt'and'Potono' Borough Councils foregathered at tho £6wer Hutt Town Hall last ovening, the occasion ;boihg ;■ their annual, sraoko"concert. .Mr.-■ E. P. Bunny (Mayor of. Lower Hutt) presided, ■ and' 'pro-', seutcd the Hutt football team with tho, cup given by Messrs. A. and T. Burt, to bo competed ior on tho football field During the ovoniug tho following toasts were honoured:— "Tho King," "Messrs. A. and T. Burt," "Tho Winning Team," "Mayors and Councillors of Both Boroughs," "Potono Employees," "Tho Ladies," "The, .Press."' Songs and other items by Messrs. Kidd, Milward, E. Brown, Woolley, Hamilton, and A. Burley contributed much- to tho pleasure, of tho. ovening. .JOTTINGS'. At tho Petone Police Court yesterday, before Messrs. J. "W.. M'Ewan and T. Inglis, J.P.'e, Wm. Hc'jbin was charged with insobriety, and also with using obscene language in a'public street. .On the/first information ho was'convicted and discharged, and on tho second convicted and-Sued 20s. .- . , The- Hon.' Jas. .Carroll, Native Minister, has .accepted: an invitation to bo present at the ■opening'of.'the Hutt Bowling Club's season, on October; 16.- The Hutt Tonnis Club, which is; run in .'conjunction' with tho bowling game,' is to bo' opened on tho same day. '■••>' Tho Pctono Junior Club has decided to begin .its summer evening 'athletic-- meetings, on November 10. On that evening two handicaps— 75 yards and 100 yards—will be got off'on tho Petone Recreation Ground. ■
