FOE SHIELD MATCHES. ■ •Tho following conditions to govern garrison, shield teams matches were adopted at a meeting of the Garrison Rifle Association held last evening:—1' ~: .-'■'■■ ■ ■ ■>' ' '■■ -; , ■.'. :. .Three \ teams matches for senior and junior third class teams will bo fired on October 30, November 27, and a date to be arranged. All matches to count for the shields. For'each match points are allotted as follow :<-First, three, points; second, two, points; and third, 'one-point..'•■Teams-to consist of U'men; all to'count;: Teams must bo nominated for ao.oeptanoa with ■ tho Shields Committee seven 'days before each match. AH transfers shall be subject to tho approval of the committees Each team'will be allotted the exclusive use Of two targets.- Ranges will be 200, 500, and 600 yards—seven-shots and one sightcr ■ at each rango. Time allowed for each distance is': as follows:—200 yards, 30 minutes; '500 yards, 40 minutes; 600 yards; 50 minutes. .Any. shot or shots unfired at the expiration of the time limit will be disallowed, and an'y shot fired after the. "Cease Fire" is sounded will render | the team liable to disqualification. Challenges will be - allowed at • one shilling each, but no time allowance.will-be made for 6ame. ; . Classification: Senior companies: "D" Battery, Wellington Navals, City Bines, Guards, Post and Telegraph Bides, Highland Rifles; junior companies: Petone Navals, Engineers, Civil Service - Rifles, Zealandia Rifles, Hutt Valley Rifles,; third class: Johnsonville Rifles, Permanent Artillery, No.: 3 (E.L.) Company, C.A.V.,> Heretaunga. M.R., Kelburno - Rifles, College Rifles, Cycle Corps. Competing teams mast provide their .".own ammunition, also two competent markers and two scorers per team. All competitors, scorers, and markers may ;parade in mufti. The entrance fee for one team .shall be one guinea, and,for each additional team from the same company, half a guinea. ' In the event of a tie in the aggregate of points for tho shields, the team with tho highest grand aggregate score for the three matches fired shall be adjudged the winner of tho tie. In the event of a tie in tho grand aggregate, one shot per man is.to be fired at the longest range to decide. A tio.in a oneday's teams match shall bo decided in accordance w.ith the rules of the Dominion Rifle Association. '•.-.' ■ ' - In each class the company' represented by tho team with'the highest number of points at the conclusion of the three matches - will be awarded tho shield allotted to that oltws. In addition to this it shall also receive ten trophies to the aggregato value of five pounds for presentation to-members 0! the team. Shields, and trophies .are, to be suitably inscribed by the association. , Companies may fire a team in a lower.grade than that for which. they are classified, provided their team alio, flies'is their own grade.
