Remington, member for:RangitikciJsaid it was.the sad pffico of Counqil almost ovory year in 'a'Abtoßeh'-eu&essiSn'to-'recall'tho ldss' by death of'oho*memberof:'that-or the other House during: tho recess.- Ho: felt that > mem-, .bers should record their sense of tho loss occasioned to: public life by tho death v of Mr. Remington:: The late rnombor was, he said, not a mani of, ostentations demeanour or manner, but one'who preferred to lend a: quiet, industrious life, and to. look, to the: work he was ;doing on .his journey rather than to listen to tho. reverberations pf the sound of his own footsteps. It was lives like.that of Mr. Remington which ~most 'often left behind them tho most lasting/benefits. Outlining tho .public positions .which' Mr. Remington hod held, Dr. i'indlay said that the deceased had do'no good service not only: to his own constituents, but to tlw Dominion as ftwhole. Dying not a young man,; yet :dyihg early,, Mr., Remington, had pressed into his years of' manhood an amount of service to his fellow citizens of which anyone might, well bo proud. - All would agree •that those years, spent willingly, industrially, and loyally iri'the service of the country, had left a,worthy_record. He would move, "That tin! Council records its high scn'so"of the faithful, service rendered to Now Zealand by the late'; A. E.
