On the recommendation of tho House Com. jriittee iit, wasdecided -to thahk the Technical School i Board. for-i.its 'conside'rdtioii 'ih' - arrangiiij a course covering the requirements of'the nurses' examination in cooking at a fco of 17s. That :the .cottago.adjoining' the medical superintendent's residence be removed, and a fence .be ereotod '.where s.required. •' That the. house .. steward's'recommendations to . replace skylights in "dispensary and convalescent ward,- and-have'the . floor in the kitchen:filled in and Covered with' cement be approved. That tenders be called for a Supply of milk for one year. That two rooms -in the cottage occupied by the ambulance driver bo papered. A letter - was • received - from: Messrs. Briscoe anu-Co. cOvering' a cheque for £h ss. towards . tho .funds the trustees. The chairman, in acknowledging the thanks of the trustees, said he hoped that, others might-follow the lead of .Briscoe and Co., as the trustees were, greatly' in need:of funds. t . :"\Vo are £13 13s. lid. worse off than we thought wo wore," remarked the chairman, on reading i letter received; from the AuditorGeneral's'. Department, , pointing out that- the trustees had !been over-paid tho above sum in; subsidy.' The chairman said it appeared that the trustees had overclaimed the amount. The secretary was instructed,to look'lnto the matTho secretary .reported-that 'up to Monday last'there we're 1(3 inmates in; the Goncral Hospital,' 83 being males j. 30. in-Victoria Hospital, and '17 in' the Seddon- Hospital, a total of 199,- as -against ! 2sß: for,tho corresponding; period of last year.. : : ■. ~• • :. ; The statement of receipts • and .'expenditure showed a balance of .£931 Is. 10d: Tho princi-' pal 1 receipts wero: Out-patients, XH 7s. j inpatients, £180 3s. 3d.; Government subsidy, ss; Bd.; Government grant for fever hospital, ,£200; and .District Board, JCISO. ' ■ ■" , A return of ''-in-patients at -tho: hospital io September 20 showed a; total of: 206,; as against 2'il for tho, corresponding period .last year. A .'.total.<of 82 were-':-admitted to October, 4, :is against. 88 to October 4, 11108, and 89 had been discharged, "as against 91 for the corresponding Seriod of 1908. There wero 199 patients still in ic hospitul, as against 258 for the same period of 1908. The in-patients' fees to October i totalled £180 3s. 3d., as against JCIO3 os. lOcl. for tii-j previous fortnight, and.
