'■ .'i ■ . ■ . , -The Executive of the Hawkc's Bay Hockey Association met last night, Mr.-E- J. W. Hallott' presiding. : The secretary 'reported that the effort to nrran'go a challenge match for the Plunket Shield with ."Wellington was unsuccessful, and the association was also unable to send a, team to Gisborne. ■. It was decided to' •present trophies to the members of the winning teams at. the recent . New Zealand tournament. The treasurer presented the-balance-sheet of the recent ladies' tournament. ' It showed a.credit balance of £% 7s, Id. it was decided to thank the' Olive Club for a donation of £b towards the. billeting expenses of the recent tournanioht, but .which was not required, nnd- it was resolved' to ask if' the money could bo devoted; to a trophy to be decided by themselves. .' • • .-.■.; i 'i'ho annual meeting of the Hawke'e Bay County Crickot Club, was held last niglit, Mr.. C'iE. , Torlesse in tho chair. The.report showed that last season the , club occupied second place in tho senior competition, winning five out of niiie' matches.. Tho balance-sheet showed receipts to bo ,£52 7s. Id., arid expenditure .£sl 75., leaving.a crodit balance of £1 Os. Id. Tho chairman, in moving ,tho-adoption , of the-re-port,, commented'On , the lack of interest taken in practice matches, and his remarks were supported by Mr. E.-J. Hallett. The election of officers was then proceeded with.- It decided" to open tho season on October 3, and to play o fancy cbehime match nn October 16.■•■
