ENTERTAINMENTS.

■•.. ■■— o —-, OPEUA HOUSE. Maurice's "All-Star" Vaudevillo Company was again in high favour with the audience at Hie Opera House last night. Mr. George Sorlie's clever ■ renderings of coon songs wero deservedly appreciated. Madame Ulancho tarelli used her mellow, soprano voice with good effect, and tho soubrettes and other artists helped to make the entertainment enjoyable. - THEATRE ROYAL. ." ■ ' The bright and varied series of moving pictures which are beiiig shown this week by tho tuller Proprietary was again successfully displayed last night. Good colouring is a feature of some of tho films, and tho high standard i °-^ b l? h 7 h '« from tho first boon S late 'i 'T 1 , I ,' th=-ruler picture entertainments was fully lhaintained. HIS MAJESTY'S. .' It is:not difficult to bestow praise on tho new weekly programmo of pictures which was presonted to patrons of His Majesty's Theatre tor the first timo last evening. There are quito a number of pictures of couspicuous excellonco, while the general-impression of the whole is a most favourable-one. To select some of the best for tho purposes of review, there need belittle hesitation as to the first in order of mont. For dramatic power, there have' been few better films seen in Wellington than "La Victime (a pictorial representation by M. -Brqu, of tho Rennissanco Theatro, of tho Docrois drama). The acting,. not only of tho principal, but also.of thoso associated with him in the piece, is consistently fine, compelling the admiration of the spectators. "The Duke's Jester" is another picture-drama, of high merit, and tho easier to follow by reason of the somewhat novol idea of presenting the principals individually before the play commences. -To thode acquainted with the life of Mozart, the pictorial representation of his death sceuo will be found to be consistent with the facts, and even to thoso who are 'not, the incident dopictmg the origin of the composer's famous "Dies: Eros" will appeal to the finor; emotions. Brilliant, even bizarre,' in its colouring and characteristics, is film showing incidents at tho marriage of tho nephew of tho Maharajah of -Tagore. The kinomatographer has in this Btudy been porticnlarly fortunate in obtaining an exccllont-viow of tho royal pair. Humour, as usual,- is: well represented. "Plundering the Superintendent of Polico" is highly diverting; "Gingerbread," "How to Train a Ma : in-Law," . and , "Tho Flood" are most amusing. The industrial films aro particularly good.- These include "The Perfume Industry at.Grasso," "Manufacturing Ropes and Cables at Howrah" (Calcutta), and "The Lime Industry of Berlin." ;■ Othor good films are, "Whon Jack Comes Home," and "Tho Ranchman's. Daughter." ./

'.' '■> -BENGOHGH'S RETURN. . , Bongough, the brilliant Canadian cartoonist and humorist, .will return to Wellington for a short seasbn bf three nights at the Town Hall on October 4, 5, and 6. Since leaving Wellington, Bongough has continued to meet with the sariie success/which attended, him bore, largo audiences and- enthusiastic praiso from tho' press andpublic being the rule evcrytihere. ■'■ RECITAL -.AT ST;.
