TRIAL REPRESENTATIVE GAME,

In view of tho shield match with Manawatii on Saturday next, a trial representative parae was played at Day's Bay on Saturday afternoon,'resulting in-a - win for tho rcpr««cntativee by throe goals to one. Tho only alteration in the B team was that, R. Parton (Y.M.C.A.) occupied th« right-wing position, as Birch (Wesley) was unable to play. '.

From the "bully-off" G. Davios made a rush, but he was well stopped by Kiblewhite, and combinod play among the B forwards maoe them look like scoring, but Harty "pared" brilliantly. -A forward rush by the A team resulted in' the first score. Morpcth stopped a shot by Elliott, but Smythe followed up well, and put tho ball through. 1-0. A moment later,'Dixon hit high, in the air over the A.goal. 'After an A rush, Daweon mado a magnificent hit down the field, and Harty. conceded a corner. Loader was given a fairly en«y chance to score by a left-handed hit, but missed. The second goal was scored in much the same way as the first. A bout of passing took place among tho forwards Davies had a shot, whioh Morpeth saved nicely, but binytho hit in from the rebound. 2-70. Organ, chairman of the Wellington Association, points Out that the New Zealand executive notified the local association that tho challenges had) been transferred- from Auckland to Wellington in. the following order:— Thames, Manawatu, Hawke's Bay, and Poverty Bay The local association had' arranged for September. 25 with. Manawatu, owing to. the absence of several local players, before the committee became.-• aware -that Hawkes. Bay desired a-match. As.
