Crowo reported tho loss of tho Puk<> koho School b.y fire, and stated tliat: an inquiry into tho. circumstances of the'too would bo- held on Friday. In tho meantime, tha 1 children wero being taught in tho Masonio ' ilall at Pukekohe. : '■'... Mr. G. .J. Garland: Was tho building insured? ' The seorotary: No, thero was n'o insurance.Mr. Garland: Is it' tho general rulo not to insure schools? • '~ ■; Tho scorotary: , That is the rulo. . .Mr. Garland: It seems to . mo. an- extraordinary thing tlmt so touch properly should not bo covered against firo risks.. • Mr. J. D. M'lionzio: Lots Of coljipanies never insuro against firo. . Mr. Garland: Yes, but they bavo' sinking. fundß to cover risks., I think it a deplorable thing tlmt wo aro not covered against risk. . Mr. Ei C. Purdio: Tliore are S(JO schools in tho district'on which premiums would have to be paid. . Tho secretary: .There aro between'3ooo and 4000 schools in tho Dominion. Mr. Garland: That is no reason why they should not be insured. . Mr. J.'
