Lynch were present at tho ordinary meeting of tho Ilutt County Council, held yesterday .morning.. .'■.,. The Inspector's report only dealt with routind matters.' . ■ . . .'■'■■■ A. deputation of ratepayers of Wainui-o-inata waited on tho council in connection with the removal of a roadman from that riding, arid presented -a petition protesting against that intention. -~No: action- was decided upon in: open council. • Mr. - Webster, clerk of the Potone Borough Council, waited ou, .tho council iu respect to the settlement, of accounts,in connection, with the acquirement by. the Borough Council of a.strip-of land near Gear Island, a proclamation gazetting, the land a portion of the l'ctOno Borough, Council. Mr. Wobstor. suggested that if- the' City Council .would furnish an-account of its .'assets and liabilities,-the Petone Council would, make no objection, and a prompt settlement would save, both'bodies legal expenses.- ; i After Mr.' .Webster withdrew, the council considered tho proposal favourably, and .it. was decided'to submit the matter to.I the" council's solicitor, Mr. Brandon. Tho clerk was instructed to prepare a statement, in connection with .tho adjustment of accounts between the Upper Hutt Town Board and ..the .Hutt. City, Council.'. ■'...-.■ The. Public Health Department , wrote stating that in the matter, of charges payable , by non-contributory local authorities in respect "of cases treated at the Wellington' Infectious Diseases'* Hospital, the charge would be .£2 a week. M. .Geddis for permission to erect a feuce on the road to aid. him in growing a live fence :was granted subject to the usual conditions. / , '• "'The letter of Mr.'T. Pudney regarding stagnant water, on: tho Main Boad at Paraparaumu was referred to the inspector for a report. A letter ro drainage was received'. from the Raumati Estato Syndicate. ■■:,:•. :-,' : HUTT , FLOWER SHOW The Hon. J. A. Millar has 'consented to open the show at the Hutt Drill Hall' this afternoon" at 3 o'clock, the Hon. James Carroll .having; been called away north.. Tho' show will be , the- seventh annual exhibition given by the Hutt '.Valley..-Horticultural , Society, and a largo number of entries have been recejved. In addition to tho.regular narcissi exhibits,'there will be. collections of 'spring lowers anil .'tables'of cyclamen and other flowers for exhibition only. These,'it is said, will prove to bo something fiber than 1 anything , seen in 'the Hntt , before; The Hutt Orchestra will be in attendance, and afternoon 'tea ..will be.'.provided. 'A. motor-car service is'to run between the Hutt and Petone in connection with the show.'.■ , ■•'•

ThV birds 'were liberated at 11.30 Jnifino .weather, arid the-winner (Mr. Moritie X "Waid's Silver, Crown)' was clocked at 12.58, followed-.••■'Very/-', closely : by .Mr. 'George Mabey's 'Wanganui.. Mr. Oscar Ball's Skate 'filled third place, and was close up. The race was very keenly contested, all the birds arriving home within a'short time of. each other.
