Liverpool.(ling.) ■ chui'ch. Jaottever-uiuch wo'.nia'y. decry newt-paper, advertisements it occasionally happens that they have tneir uses in unexpected uirections. . It is to a photoglyph in.a proprietary hiedicine advertisement accidentally secu-tuat" Mr. E..-.WV. E Bailey,-- of dl.'Botanic Place, Eugo-.Laue, Uvorpooi, is gratelul for'haying introuilced him to-his happy wide. The. romantic story.can be brjehy-tow-as follows:-- ~.--.■' . ;,. /; . • Nearly threo years'ago, when Mr. Bailey was d grocer's assistant in Margate, but with artistic ambitions, which have since lifted him. above the weighing-out Of kegs of butter,.ho saw tho' fac« of ■ Miss 'Emmeline Perry, of Liverpool, looking at him from tho pages of his morning paper. '.From, the accompanying, letterpress, ne-learned that the' lace . wns'not a mere "ideal'head" drareii.by a.brother artist; but a reproduction from a pbotograph of Miss Perry,-wno, out of gratitude for'her;rescue.by Bile Bcanß.fronun trying illness, had sent a testimonial for publication. The testimonial boro Miss Perry's full postal address, and "Mr. Boiloy, evidently a believer in lovd at first sight,.promptly;.wrote to the lady." He must have succeeded in transferring to -paper -some eloquent fragrance of his ardent passion,, for the lady modestly replied, having first secured the permission of her par-, ents. That was-the beginning of a- correspondence which rapidly becamo a daily interchange. Month after month passed, however, before these strangely-found lovers saw each other face to face, for many weary miles lie between Liverpool and Margate. But the uicctinp casno at last, for the ardent young grocer-, artist devoted his first, holiday to. a'GOO miles cycling journey to the. Mersey; City, and. returned.more deeply in love than ever. •_ ; Mr. Bailey decided in a bold step. Ho severed hi 6 connection with Margate, and came north to Liverpool,, armed .with'only a very small ■capital, tremendous ambition, and the one determination, to hasten with a homo for himself and his-fiancee.; That was a littlo'ovor twelve months'ago, and ho had, much trouble to pass through. Hib savings dwindled, and at last he had to go back : to the drudgery of thegrocer counter. At length he sent'm his resignation as counter-man at the- great Liverpool store whero ho was employed, and was reappointed to design.and .supply artistic posters and show-cards-. ' ' . The now departure proved . successful. In short, this truly up-to-dato romance,, during which the mutual ardour-of, those strangely- ' introduced lovoi-3 never; wavered for an' instant, has reached a happy climax to the sound of wedding bolls.' . '■ It is probably unprecedented for a family medicine to net as'matrimonial agent, but this will not make tho gratitude of Mr. and Mrs. Bnil.ey to Bile Beans any the less lasting and sincere.—Advt.
