THE ROLL. ■ Tho main roll for tho Rangitikci electorate has already been revised by tho "Electoral Department and printed at the Government Printing Offico. Copies were sent to tho district last week, and a supplementary'roll is in courso of preparation locally. Tho revision of alltlio rolls used in the gouoral election ,of November' last has been proceeding for somo time, and it is anticipated that tho printing will bo finished within the next few days. Tho revising process consists of making inquiries as to tho. whereabouts of all persons whoso names r.ro'on tho rolls, bn't did not veto atr tho general'election. Any of these who aro, found to have died or left the. district where they wcro enrolled aro then struck'off tho'roll. The number thus treated, js considerable.-

THE GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE. The date for the Rangitikci by-election.has not yet been fix/jd. It is probable that tho contest will tako place about tho-middle of noxt month. Despite the announcement that tho Government dees not intend to interfere,, efforts will, it lis reported, be mado at once to try and concentrate the Ministerial vote. Tho Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. J. Carroll) told a Dominion reporter yesterday, however, that it was not intended that any of. the Ministers ofth'o Crown sho,uld visit the district in regard to the election.
