(From Our, Soccial Itcoorler.) <t HUTT VALLEY TROTTING CLUB In presenting the annual report and balince-bheot of tho Hutt Vailoy' Trotting Club, tho secretary, Mr R W Short, says. Members are to bo congratulated on tho improved position of the club, the assets now showing at £148 14s 4d. against £107 4s 2d , with liabilities nil The annual trotting meeting held on December 26 and 28 was again a great success, and appreciated by the public. Although there was considerable shrinkage m tho totalisator returns, the meeting proved a profitable one for the club, and the stewards hopo, by keeping the sport ■.lean, to ment e larger share of public patronage It is with -sincere regret that they announce tho retirement' of Mr. O. S. WatkrnStfrom the position of president, and tho thanks of the club are due to'him for the very active interest he took m its welfare During tho ycjr a starting clock was procured, and, in the capable hands of Mr S V. Burndgo (who kindly acted as honorary starter gave every satisfaction The balance sheet shows that the club commonccd the year with a credit of £92 Totalisator, receipts'and bookmakers' fees totalled £399, gates £160, v nomination and acceptances £273, sundries £91 The expenditure totalled £902—stakes £G4O, taxes and chirgcs £63, salaries £58, miscellaneous £142, 'Uho year's operations thus left a credit balance at hank of £114 , / __ ' " A smoke concert will be held "on Saturday night by the Petone Nazals, when a presentation will be made to C.
