The first, annual general meeting of the Hutt District Cricket-Club was held at the Town Hall, 1 Lower Hutt, last night, Mr." M. ■W. Welch presiding over a large attendance.. - '■ 1 v The secretary (Mr. J. Rodgers)' reported that, since the preliminary meeting, he had enrolled new members. The total membership (honorary' and active) was 'about 80. ; Mr; T. H; 'Wilson moved that a team bo' entered for the : Wednesday competition. JOTTINGS. , ■ Information is furnished in the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society's' schedule for the current season that, in addition to the usual Spring, Rose, Summer, and Chrysanthemum shows, a Sweet Pea'and Carnation Show will be held early in January, probably at Petono. The first monthly meeting of tho society will be held at the Town Hall; Lower Hutt, next week. As a result of the recent heavy, rain,, the Hutt. Road, or rather the old portion of it, has been converted into its usually pitiable state at this time of year. The new portion is wearing very well, although the top-dress-ing is somewhat cut about. The two roads, where they, run side by side, present a great contrast., v The disinfecting process, necessitated in <bonsequenc'o of the outbreak of diphtheria at'the Korokoro School; is proceeding, tirid the draining of the grounds is alio in hand. . Petone's museum is gradually •' growing. Yesterday afternoon,, Mr. Sydney Poynter, of Richmond Street, Pctone, presented the institution with a collection of shells, birds' eggs, .geological specimen's,' and • various interesting curio's from different parts, of the world. .
The monthly meeting of the, Hutt No-Li-cense League was held at Petotte; last night! In the absence of the Rev. J. J. North, who was unable to attend, addresses Were, given by the Rev. A. Williams and the Rev. B. F. Rothwell.
