ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
APPARENT CASE OF. POISONING.
A sudden death, apparently a caeo of Buicido,' took place at Newtown yesterday. A young man named Vincent Ferraxa,,. formerly cook 'on-..the s.s. Jano, Douglas, but lately proprietor of a supper-room at Auckland, died suddenly at the hospital, whrther, he had been removed from tho Langham Private; Ijlotel. Deceased had been staying at the Central Hotel, but, on Thursday, shifted his quarters to the Langham Private Hotel; Riddiford Street. On Thursday night ho went to bed, nothing unusual being noticeable in his 'behaviour, but yesterday morning he was found in. the'lavatory in a stato of. unconsciousness. J; On his room being searched, a bottle, three parts full of lysol (a disinfectant),, was found there., Tho police sent for Dr. Bowerbank, who at once ordered Ferrara's removal to the hospital. That was about 10 a.m. At 2.30 p.m. the man died, without having recovered consciousness. It is understood that he leaves a wife and two children in Auckland. :
An inquest will bo held at tho hospital at 10.45 this morning,! ' RUN OVER BY A DRAT. - A serious: accident occurred at . Upper Hutt yesterday. ■■ A young man named J no; Clark, employed by Mr. -J. Cunningham, sawnaller,- of Akntarawa, was on his way to the Upper Hutt station with a .timber wagondrawn oy three hbrses and loaded with, about 8£ 'tons of timber. In stooping' to pick 'up the' reins fell forward, j and a wheel of the dray passed'over , his body. He uraa picked up a few minutes later and taken to tho railway station, whero Dr. Purdy was summoned to attend, him.' Subsequently he was conveyed,to the hospital, whore ho now lies in a critical condition.
