S. Eichordson, Chief Instrnctpr of Artillery. The idea is to make' the "specialists" of each corps offioicnt in preparing rapid and. accurate reports from flying surveys of bits' of country, to the extent that the whole work of scouting, field sketching, and writing,up reports will lie a matter of two or three hours only. Tho local corps, D Battery, is giving special attention, to.'this highly-important branch of training. ;' ~ ','■■ ':. ■ Lieutenant Price, of the Headquarters' Staff (Fortifications), who has been seriously ill, returned to duty yesterday morning. Captain J. E. Duignanj Headquarters Staff (Engineer and Services), will give a lecture on tho subject of, "Field Fortifications" to . the members of the Wellington Non-Commissioned Officers' Club on Monday next, August 30, at 8 p.m. \ . ■"' . MOEEIS TUBE SBOOTING. , A Morris Tube match was held between teams representing the Wellington Gas Company- and tho Old Navals' Association' on .Saturday, the result, being a win for the former by 10 points, the scores being 311 and 304 respectively. The best scores were:— Gas Company-Butler, 35; Chernside, 34; Coombs, 33; Aston, 32; Street, 32; Gray, 31; Evensen, 31; Kinniburgh, 30. Old NavalsRabe, 33; Hepburn," 33;. Bulford, 32; Harris, 32; Eraser, 31; Griffiths, 30; Tanby, 30. ' A triangular Morris Tube match was fired on Saturday between teams -representing the Hntt Valley Rifles, Petone Navals, and Petone Ex-Navals' Association. After a pleasant evening's sport, the Hntt Valley Rifles won by a majority of 41 - points, The shooting of tho ■winning team was very good, being 314 points out of a possible of 350, on average of 31 2-5 per man.
