'_ Sir,—Too . much is being said about tlio inequitable'fares oil'our tramways.' If those in power studied, the'first cost of outlay and' the cost for \ip grades per unit, it would, certainly equalise the fares.' It is Well known' that in districts: : where councillors reside, lieople can leave their homes and rido to their business for a penny. Constablo Street is hot "a district in need of a-cheap fare. Comparing tlio Liixford Street district.for distanco, thoy have to pay a twopenny faro, against the Constable' penny faro. . Docs' not 'tin's show, tho 'injustice to a workers' district like Berhampore. No doubt, if a worthy councillor lived in'this district some remedy would bo found for the present extortionate fare in proportion to favoured and longerdistanced sections. If a return threepenny fare was charged, it would give a better return and populate a workers' district.—l .am, etc.,;' ;'. v JAMES RICHARD.- . August .18., ;. :
