An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of John Fonteaioy. 35 years of age, unmarried, who Was found lying near, the tram line at Addingteu on tho .night ■of August llj: suffering from fractured ribs, a broken arm, and other severe injuries, and who died, .. 'in the hospital last night. Dr. Westenrft stated, in .evidence, that '. he : thought that v Jie injuries had been caused, by a vehicle of omo, description striking''Fontenoy. The loljormen Of two trams gave evidence as to /nding Fontenoy lying near the line. ! was .-unaer , tho influence of liquor; vhen the accident' oocurred. , .i'h6 : coroner found a verdict that. Fontenoy met'his death by accident,, but that ,there was no evidence to show how.it occurred. ~,; : : MISADVENTURE. Chrlstchurch, August 18. . .The i inquest. .the death of Catherine Crosbory, who was, shot by her .son. on Friday. afternoon, was-resumed, this ,afternoon, and after hearing evidence a verdict of misadventure was , returned. FATAL OCCURRENCE IN VIVIAN , ■ '. | STREET. Mr. William Dempsey, who was convoyed to tho Hospital on Monday ; suffering from severe injuries, received through his being knooked down- by & tramcar in Vivian StrOet, suooumbed at 4 o'olook yesterday V afternoon.
