(From Our SDecial neDorter.) COURT SITTINGS. A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held at Petone yesterday, Dr. A. M'Arthur,, S.M., and Mr". W. Inglis, J.P., presiding.' For breaches of prohibition orders, John Boyle was fined 10s., with 7s. costs, and '.Hubert. Kossa was ordered to pay costs, 7s. For failing to send children to school regularly, fines wore indicted as follow:—James Tanualiill, As... with costs 7s. on «ach of two informations; Walter Bbwator and George" Gough, ss.,.with costs 7s. each; Andrew Riddell,- 25., with costs 7b'.; and Thomas Parr, as., with costs Us.
Messrs: J. Wilkins,, H. Elliott,, and .1. Cudby, J.P's., presided over a sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court yesterday.,' A yoiine Italian named Antonio Focllo was convicted of stealing a horse-cover, and discharged. WESTERN' PETONE SCHOOL. • The newly-erected Western Petorie. Schoolis now ready for occupation. The building consists of six class-rooms, four of them 'riieasuriii" 26ft. by 21ft., two 30ft. bv 21ft., and two 18ft. by .16ft., the headmaster's -room is 10ft. by 7ft. 4m.', and there is a teachers' room of the-same dimensions. There is. an up-to-dato lavatory, and a library of tho latest style. The corridors are lofty- and 9ft.' in width. The school is the finest in the Wellington education district, and , one of the', finest in New Zealand. The building is of the. latest design, and built throughout on hygienic principles, all the corners being rounded to prevent the accumulation of dust. The.; general up-to-dateness-of the school is illustrated .by the fact that tho old blackboards and , easels are' entirely'dispensed with, the new ones.running right'round the walls, at" a convenient distance above the floor, and rising "to a'-height of about four feet. Too,,exterior -js, of. pressed' -bride with .'cement facings. Messrs. G. T. Croft and Son erected the building, the contract price beiup .£3OO(J. The brick and concrete work', was sublet to Messrs. B. J.- Southgato and, Co. Tho ground,, which' covers'.about two' acres in extent, cost .£I3OO. -.The school'district'takes in children living., ivest of. Kelson.
