(By Telegraph.—Sbeclal Correspondent.) Auckland, August 13. There has been increased interest in the Waihi fieid of late, as a result of which several claims have been taken up again. A southern syndi : cato'has the Gladstone and Waihi East claims' to the south-east of the. Waihi. . The Bomelus and adjacent areas on the north of_tkc Consolidated are held under'option of. Mr. G. Arnold,. acting for English investors, ' who are forming. a syndicate at Home to provide the necessary capital for preliminary boring operations. The intention is to fonu a strong company later if results justify such procedure. Several other areas have been repegged and applied for, and are likely to be worked before long. It may be .hoped that this spirit of revival will load to a proper fostering of tho industry. and that in each ease vigorous enterprise in legitimate development work may eventuate. . Tiie day' has gono by when a policy of "pottering about" in shallow level is expedient at Waihi. The whole aim of future mining propositions should .be to "go down." ; DKEDGISG. ' .
